I have found that inspiration is something that comes to me rather than me seeking it out. So many things throughout my daily life fill me with inspiration. Children laughing, a couple in love, an amazing painting, a street performer, beautiful gardens and a breathtaking sunset are some examples of what inspires me unexpectedly. Without a doubt, when I do seek inspiration, nature in her many forms is where I find it. Taking a walk on the beach in the morning while everything is still and quiet is a great time for me to get inspiration. It helps me to embody the same quality of stillness within and to quiet my mind so creativity can come through.
I can see how I will be able to start applying what inspires me to my writing by taking more time to intentionally seek out inspiration. I love to look at life from a “bigger picture” perspective and see the beauty that is there amongst the daily hustle and bustle. Of course I have to remind myself to do the same when it comes to my own daily hustle and bustle. I know I will be able to apply my inspirations to my writing because it is more of my style to write that way. Reports and factual styles of writing are a bit more challenging for me compared to being able to just flow and write what I feel or enjoy. I can see how that could be a block for me when it comes time to write a more structured type of writing. I would just need to make sure to give myself enough time to do such a writing project so it makes sense and that I follow the required guidelines.
